Jesus Herrera (1886–1961)


Jesus Herrera was a lifelong resident of South Texas, born in Floresville and established as a farmer in the Wilson County area. He raised a sprawling family in Poth and Floresville before spending his final years in San Antonio.

Jesus was born into the farming community of Floresville during the late 19th-century boom of the region.

Following the death of his mother in 1894, Jesus is recorded at age 14 living with his father and siblings.

1905 - MARRIAGE - To Juanita Garza (1888–1943)


Location - Floresville, Wilson County, Texas

Jesus married Juanita Garza (1888–1943) at age 19. This union would produce over a dozen children, many of whom remained in the Wilson County and San Antonio areas.

Jesus’s physical description and residence are captured in both the WWI and WWII "Old Man's" draft registrations.

1910–1950 - Farming and Resilience


Jesus spent decades as a farmer in the Poth and Floresville areas, navigating the challenges of the Great Depression and the transition to mid-century industrial agriculture.
